walk-iest towns in the world. Charlotte Pooch is the newest location for one of the most iconic and loved dog walking companies in New York, NYC Pooch. We've made a name for ourselves as the place for individual care, highly trained and knowledgeable dog walkers, award winning customer service, and the greatest dog walking mobile app of all time! We've been a part of the dog walking industry for over 15 years and we’re proud to bring our signature services to the good dogs (and people) of the Queen City. It's the Roaring 20’s, and lets face it, dogs didn't need walkers back then. In fact, they pretty much took care of themselves with far less oversight than they are by today’s standards.
JIM BUCK, THE 1ST PROFESSIONAL DOG WALKER
Fast forward to 1962. Times are a changing as Jim Buck, widely recognized as the first professional dog walker, blasts on the scene. Mr. Buck is one impressive dude, often seen shepherding 15+ dogs through the streets of New York, making pack walks the norm. And let's face it, he looks great doing it! Today, we tip our hats to this legend who took his passion for dogs and found a way to live that love every day.

In 2002, life long friends Dan and Shane set out to offer a more individualized service. Their vision: Treat each dog with the same care and attention they get from their owners. Armed with nothing but a couple of leashes and cool sneakers, the guys create NYC Pooch and get to work. They don't pack walk. They ask the important questions. They take the time to learn each and every dog’s personality. They coin the phrase: “Every dog has their own version of the perfect walk.” Dogs are happier and New Yorkers take notice. NYC Pooch grows with support from their community, the team they build, and the work they put into finding and properly training their dog walkers.

In 2010, POOCH partners with PUPTOIPIA dog training to take our love and passion for dogs to the next level. Together, we over-haul our entire training program for new walkers, focusing on health, wellness, breed specific traits, and safety. Positive reinforcement training techniques are at the core of all our services. We speak Dog!

Please don't get us confused with those national dog walking apps (or companies that are trying to be.) We’re local, passionate, dog-loving people with very high standards. We use technology as a tool to enhance our services, not replace them.

You're probably wondering, how a bunch of city slicker dog walkers from New York arrived in Charlotte, NC. Well, when our super duper General manager / Amazing mom, and Doggy fanatic moved her family from NYC to Queen City, she quickly realized that the demand for quality dog care was there. Apparently Brittany wasn't the only one with the bright idea to move to greener pastures, Some of our NYC clients begin to move to Charlotte as well and so we decided to open up our first dog walking outpost outside of NY. So here we are, super proud and excited to bring our signature services to the good dogs (and people) of Queen City, Charlotte NC.
